The Altercation

We once fought a monkey with a knife.  He had the knife, we didn't.  To clear up any potential confusion.  It was all a big misunderstanding.  He thought.  We thought.  To wit, we didn't even want the miniature chicken pot pie.  We had no designs upon it.  It was a Swanson's product.  To add specificity to the narrative, thus lending it more of an air of versimilitude.  We put up quite a struggle.  This was by the dumpster behind the 7-11.  We tried to talk reason.  But there's no talking to an angry monkey.  He was lactose intolerant to the milk of human kindness.  Then he made a fatal mistake.  Instead of impaling us with the knife, he threw it at us.  It bounced off our shoe and really hurt.  It didn't puncture the skin or anything, it hit us handle first.  We thought our foot was broken.  We picked up the knife.  The Swanson's miniature chicken pot pie was the only witness to our altercation.  Two kids zoomed by on trail bikes, but they didn't see us.  Or pretended not to see us.  Perhaps they simply didn't want to become involved.  Or were engaged in some big adventure.  Or saw us and simply didn't believe their eyes.  A monkey and a man, struggling over a pot pie.  You can have the pot pie, we screamed.  A man popped out of the dumpster.  He said, "Did somebody say pot?"
