It wouldn't be Germany without rain, and the rain fell in buckets the night we visited Hamburg's Weihnachtmarkt. Here Mrs. UF stands beneath an umbrella at the Neuer Wall, dreaming of Gluhwein, Thuringer Wurst and Mutzen. Behind her the water level rises ominously in the streets, and within minutes 287 Hamburgians had drowned. Merry Christmas!
A new wall, finally. The old one in Berlin got destroyed by vandals, 'twas a shame.

Yeah, it was heartbreaking to see German Communism first destroyed, then kicked while dead by David Hasselhoff.

Mike, that David Hasselhoff remark was terrific, as is your Christmas greeting and accompanying photo.

Someone should take this bullet and say Mrs UF looks fabulous here... and compliments to the photographer as well. Truly stunning.

She IS fascinating indeed. No taste in men's headgear, but definitely - stunning is the right word.
And I've only seen her for a few moments.
And Mike - I had all forgotten about that Hasselhoff abomination, there's no thanks for reminding me.

Thanks everybody. And Mrs. UF is stunning, isn't she? I may not know much about geography, but I have great tastes when it comes to women. Like Mrs. UF--and Gillian.

Mrs. UF and Gillian? I'm with you here, Mike. Both that kind of woman to make me blush if they looked at me.

You guys are too kind.

No, we aren't. Receiving a well-deserved compliment should be a daily occurrence for you.

Jan Martin, that is one of the nicest things I have ever heard.
Posted by: gillian | December 31, 2011 at 01:12 AM
Now that made me blush. Thank you.

that photo looks like it should be in a book and traveling around in a museum show! Great shot! I think Alex should print it out many times and give out framed pictures to all her family and friends, hint

I second that.
