Here we are with the dogs in front of that greatest of inventions, German television. It's Christmas Eve (or Christmas Day as they'd have it) so we're watching the traditional fake fire, with traditional German Christmas carols playing in the background. One such great traditional German Christmas carol is Wham's "Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart." We must have heard it a hundred times. But back to the TV. We love watching German TV, despite the fact that we can't understand a word anyone is saying. But the shit they show! One Christmas special involved sending people dressed as Christmas trees through an automatic netting machine. That one was great fun to watch. We also watched a great movie with Klaus Klinski playing a sadistic murderer disguised as Heino. But the best thing we saw this Christmas was, believe it or not, a McDonald's commercial. People insult McDonald's, and they should, but it was some McDonald's visionary who came up with this year's greatest new culinary offering--a large hamburger with three hot dogs on top of it. Seriously. You can actually buy this thing in Germany. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try it, as we couldn't find a McDonald's upon our return to Hamburg. Hopefully the Germans will export this new combo hamburger-hotdog abomination to America, as a long-delayed vengeance weapon. Just one of them is guaranteed to put you in the hospital with a heart attack; two, and you're dead.
Rudi loves German TV too

Oi, Martijn! I love that line, sounds like a line out of a Turbonegro-song.

Terribly sorry... it's Paul Simon (whom I love so dear, me being a big hippy pussy ha ha).

"Sounds of Silence" from the "Graduate" soundtrack, I knew that - me being some kind of hippy pussy as well.

I knew that too, even though I've never been a big Simon and Garfunkel fan. I am a big hippie pussy, however, and I have the Arlo Guthrie albums to prove it.

If the Germans send us a new combo hamberger-hotdog abomination, we'll put chili on it.
As a birth American who receives more than half his calories from hamburgers, I can only imagine the thrill you experienced visiting Hamburg, the birthplace of the hamburger. How can you ever top that!

They (ze Germans) also invented the hotdog! There is just no end to all the goodness the Germans have unleashed on the world.
(I don't know what's wrong with me tonight... so cynical! Better get to bed now. Goodnight, nurse.)
