He couldn't live with the fact that he enjoyed listening to Eagles' songs.

Not suicide, a mercy killing. It's all semantics, you see.

When it comes to Guilt & Self-loathing, I can write a book. My only hope is they don't turn it into a Musical. And that Phil Collins gets to write the score.
Now, when it comes to musical guilty pleasures I can only own up to: Neil Diamond, R.E.M.'s tormented shtick and Pat Boone's "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" (don't go to Youtube, they don't have a good version of the song -- but the single is fantastic! ho ho ho!)

Another half-guilty pleasure of mine: the Glockenspiel. More than 10-20 years ago I thought of making a tape (now a cd) of rock music that has a glockenspiel in it. The mother of all is Velvet Underground's Sunday Morning. That started it for me. The instrument is childish, certifiable, slightly gay (not that there's anything wrong et cetera) and when combined with the right vibe... completely magical.
So, after all these years not finishing anything (the story of my life) there was a nice lull in my job in between boredom & a tedium, and I thought: now is the time to make that Glock Rock cd (or would Glock 'n' Roll be funnier?). So for the past days I hunted for tingeling songs. Here's the yield so far -- and you can see there are many bands on the list officially crapped upon by UF, but in my defence: I left out U2's I will Follow and all Bruce Springsteen songs.
The Velvet Underground – Sunday Morning
Red Hot Chilli Peppers – Universally Speaking
Radiohead – No Surprises
The Beatles – Only a Northern Song
Virgil Shaw – Golden Sun
Tom Waits – Bird & Fish
Nick Drake – Northern Sky 9technically not a glockenspiel I'm afraid)
The Beach Boys – When I Grow Up To Be a Man
Buddy Holly – Everyday
Flip Kowlier – In de Fik (a Belgian lunatic, and heck of a nice song!)
Sigur Rós – ( )
Tom Waits – Blow Wind Blow
The White Stripes – The Nurse
Frank Zappa – Watermelon in Easter Hay Procul Harum – Boredom
Radiohead – The Tourist
Does any one has some ideas for more? Punk, indie pop, preferably something with women too (Breeders? Beettie Serveert? Marylin Monroe?)... I'm now working on the cover. If this is finished I'm ready to be committed.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Found a perfect new one: Bob Dylan 'Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window'. [I first wrote Widow). I could do with some women though...

Martijn, I love your passion. And "Glock 'n' Roll" is the perfect name for it! Sorry I don't know any glock rock classics off hand, because I would love to lend a hand. I would just ask that you give it back. Karoline, you're banned from the site for liking Yes songs. Even though I kind of like a couple too.

I love Neil Diamond. Everything pre-Heartlight, his rancid song inspired by the movie E.T. And I am not ashamed of my love for Neil Diamond. Not one bit.

A Glockenspiel. I don't know how to chime in here.

While i love Mojo Nixon's "Don Henley Must Die. ...just don't let him get back with Glen Frey". The Eagles did pen a few natty tunes, & if i get drunk enough tonight i'm going to come back & play Best of My Love under your balcony.
