Plot Summary of Truffaut's Jules et Jim
Jules and Jim meet Catherine and the three of them strike up a conversation about the greatest rock band name of all time. Jules says Foghat. Jim says Spooky Tooth. Catherine hates Spooky Tooth so much she drives drives Jim off a cliff.
Critics have often argued that the movie's ending is preordained. However, in a 1965 interview Truffaut said, "Tragedy could have been averted. Jim (pronouned "Jheeem") had only to pick Blue Öyster Cult ."
Hohn hohn! We are French and we are laughing!

Speaking of the French - I always want to like this movie (I'm SORRY, film - what is the diff, anyway?), but can never get through it, because of the debilitating rush of ennui that comes over me like a fever. Oh wait, fevers are exciting and somewhat sexually stimulating, so no, that comparison won't do a'tall. Hmm, more like the numb, quasi-comatose boredom of post-lunch trig class.
The chick is hot, though. so add this to your list of questions: why do french films always favor such ungainly men with really pretty dames?

It's the Serge Gainsbourg Paradox.

I've never seen Jules and Jim, but I hear it's an exciting landmark of boredom that has inspired filmmakers the world over.
